FAQ
Shirlee Green Preschool is a unique little school. There's always more to learn about us, but here are a few quick details to help you along the way.
4 \ How fast do classes fill?
Shirlee Green Preschool enrolls about 120 children every year. Although we have a waitlist each year and it is difficult to predict when each will be filled, many of our classes are full by the start of the school year. Registration begins every January. As families begin their registration process, we work individually with each to help ensure we can meet the needs you are looking for that best fits your little one.
5 \ Are there sibling discounts?
Many families have been part of the Shirlee Green Preschool community for generations. To help siblings stay together, a 10% discount is given.
6 \ What are the qualifications of SGP staff?
Our faculty is a powerful blend of educators whose passions within child development create a remarkably robust team. Amongst our faculty are educators with degrees and certifications in early education and elementary education, music and art education and specialties in special education and gifted education. Each member of our teaching staff is a career educator who has dedicated their study and professional life to the education of young children.
7 \ Are there auxiliary staff?
There are times when children may need the support from an educational specialist: Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, or Physical Therapy. Auxiliary staff from Special School District, local school districts, and private practice may schedule time to work with your young students throughout the school day, as needed. It is our greatest endeavor to help every child have all they need to succeed.

What ages can attend?
Shirlee Green Preschool is a small school for babies and young children, ages 6 weeks to 5 years old. Our summer camp, Camp Micah, is open to all children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old. When kiddos are ready to head to kindergarten, they join Congregation Shaare Emeth's summer camp for schoolagers - Camp Emeth.

Do children have to be Jewish?
Our school is a welcoming and inclusive place. We invite families of all faiths, backgrounds, and beliefs to join our incredible community of learners. Our Jewish roots and Reform Jewish principles ground us and influence how we live, learn, and make decisions together. At SGP parents and guardians, children, and teachers are embedded in a Jewish ecosystem that emphasizes joyfully celebrating Shabbat and holidays, age-appropriate knowledge of Jewish stories and ritual, and deep commitments to hessed, loving-kindness and tikkun olam, the obligation each of us has to repair the world.

What if my child has food allergies?
We are a haven for little ones with food sensitivities and food allergies. Each child's food needs are carefully tended to with two options for families. Families may pack lunches and snacks, all according to their child's allergy demands. Or families can order lunches and snacks from school, carefully prepared by a local caterer with whole grains, organic dairy, and whole fruits and veggies. Based on your child's allergies, we'll help pick the right option for your child and share with you the campus food allergy plan designed just for your little one.
